Bryce

All of my good intentions about not sleeping with Griffin were fading fast. Maybe it was the feel of his hard body against mine when we danced, maybe it was his apology, or maybe it was the massive overload of jealousy that flashed through me when I saw the proprietary way Amanda touched him.

Whatever it was, I couldn’t remember a single reason why it was a bad idea to take Griffin home and fuck his brains out.

“You okay?” Griffin had taken my hand the second we stepped outside, and he gave it a gentle squeeze as we walked down the winding driveway toward my car.

“Yes, why?”

“You seem kind of quiet,” he said.

“I’m good,” I said.

We stopped at my car, and Griffin stared down at me, his face hard to read in the dim moonlight.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

He nodded. “I want to kiss you again.”

I swallowed hard. “I want that too.”

Before he could kiss me, the door to the house opened, and a group of people spilled out, laughing and chattering as they made their way down the driveway.

Disappointment on his face, Griffin said, “Bryce, I -”

“Come home with me tonight,” I said.

“I want to, but….”

“But?”

“Nothing’s changed, Bryce. I might be here for longer than expected, but I’m still leaving Willowdale as soon as the job is finished.”

“I know,” I said.

“You’re not a one-night stand kind of girl,” he said.

“I’ve changed my mind.”

His look conveyed his disbelief. “Just like that?”

“Just like that.”

He glanced at the people who were walking closer. “You don’t want to be fired for sleeping with me. Remember?”

“I won’t tell anyone if you don’t,” I said.

“Bryce…”

“I want you, Griffin, and I promise I will have no regrets after tonight is over.” I pulled out my phone and texted my address to him. I stood on my tiptoes and pressed a kiss against his cheek. “I just sent you my address. I want you to come over, but I’ll understand if you don’t, and there will be no hard feelings. Okay?”

He nodded, and I gave him an encouraging smile before climbing into my car and driving away.
